The Quartet, 2009 – 11

I have been painting on plywood since the 80s. I was (still am) captivated by the patterns on plywood, and the wood grains on manufacture boards in general that signifies "nature" yet are mass produced for the construction industry. In this series I followed the existing patterns or grains of the plywood, filled them in with colors, like painting by numbers without the numbers, creating some eye-candy pictures. I was intrigued by the confluence of culture, nature and industry: they are paintings, painted on wood that was factory manufactured into building materials.
